Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation and selecting suppliers through qualification processes. The Supplier Quality Engineer will also perform supplier audits, and help drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including Quality Inspection plans (ISIR / Balloon Prints).
  • Manage supplier score cards.
  • Perform supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.
  • Develops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations.
  • Works together with high level people from within the business, and the supplier.
  • Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done.
  • Provides technical / commercial assistance to Purchasing to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge.
  • Contributes to project as a team member or leads small projects.
  • Perform internal product audits.
  • Generate reports based on trends of NCM data.
  • Non-conforming Material management.
  • CAR / SCAR management.
  • Communicate with supplier for NCMR and SCARs.
  • Communicate with supplier inspection documentation and inspection method requirements.
  • Communicate supplier requested ECN’s and Deviations.
  • Gage R&R / MSA (measurement system analysis) for internal processes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Quality performing the above functions an ISO 9000 environment.  (Preferred AS9100 or other highly regulated system)
  • Strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
  • Exposure to machining in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Aerospace and tight tolerance machine parts inspection environments.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Ability to influence others
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability

Working Conditions

Work will be performed in an office environment. Periodically assignments may require work be performed in a production area or at a supplier, requiring the use of PPEs determined appropriate for the environment by the resident authority. Some travel will be required.
