Manufacturing Engineer II

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer II position will develop and support the equipment, processes and work flow to consistently and reliably produce components, subassemblies and final products, safely, to specification and within FAA regulations. This position will have primary responsibility for the MES and ensuring the highest level of process and product conformance. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Product Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Operations and Production staff to support and maintain product conformity and PLM.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain equipment, processes and work flow to ensure a safe, healthy and ergonomic work environment
  • Develop and implement assembly and production processes that safely, reliably and efficiently meet DeltaHawk specifications using the MES and other tools to allow post-production audit confirmation where required or appropriate
  • Design, implement and maintain tooling and fixturing to support accurate and highly repeatable production and assembly processes
  • Support assembly tooling, fixturing and test equipment design, documentation, identification and inspection/calibration requirements
  • Design work cells to support safe, reliable and efficient production of components, subassemblies and final products, incorporating 5S, poka yoke and other lean principles to create a highly organized production environment
  • Develop shop floor work flow that supports safe, reliable and efficient processes and routings using visual factory, kanban, data displays and other tools to create an intuitive environment
  • Support and manage the MES to ensure full alignment with QMS and PLM changes effecting product or process conformability
  • Listen and strive to fully understand production process concerns from both users and customers of the process, communicate with leadership and collaborate to develop and implement appropriate resolutions
  • Support and participate as requested in internal and external audits of products and processes
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion
  • Support other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field OR 5+ years experience in field
  • 3+ years of experience in product manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • 3D CAD Experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs

Preferred:

  • Manufacturing Engineering experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Experience supporting an MES
  • Proficient with SolidWorks
  • Experience working with outside machining, tooling and automation suppliers

Working Conditions

Work will be performed in both an office and an aerospace production environment with PPEs required as designated by the specific area. Kneeling, squatting, bending and other positions appropriate to support the development and assessment of production processes will be required. Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to bench height will be required.
