Fabricator II

Job Summary:

The Fabricator II position plays an important role in the development and certification efforts of DeltaHawk Engines. Under the supervision of the Test Manager, the Fabricator II position will have a diverse role providing support for designing, fabricating, and assembling test fixtures and test facility infrastructure.  In addition, the Fabricator II position will provide support in one or more areas including machining and testing support.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication of test equipment, holding fixtures, and test facility infrastructure in support of the engineering and test departments.
  • Modification of existing or new components as required to meet engineering specified test needs.
  • Machining of components required for larger fabrication assemblies.
  • Communication (verbal or written) of project status to engineering and leadership.


Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail in metal fabrication tasks including reading and interpreting drawing intent, troubleshooting assemblies “on the fly” as well as final assembly work.
  • Welding experience using TIG on aluminum as well as thin stainless plate and tubing.
  • Experience creating detailed weldments as well as holding fixtures for same (e.g. roll cages or race car frames).
  • Proficiency with manual mill, lathe, and/or CNC operation of same.
  • Average computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and email.
  • Passionate about learning and a strong “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to lift, hold, and position weights up to 45 lbs. intermittently (two to four times per hour over a work shift).
  • Ability to intermittently work in various positions as needed for typical fabrication tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding experience with other materials such as 4130, Inconel, stainless, and/or steel.
  • Welding experience with other welding processes such as MIG and stick.
  • Ability to create digital or paper drawings as needed to document fabrication projects.
  • Facility maintenance background including electrical troubleshooting, plumbing modifications and general construction techniques.
  • Experience with sheet metal forming such as floor pans, bracketing, or tanks.


Working Conditions:

Work will be conducted in a mechanical shop and engine test cell environment with standard precautions required consistent with welding, fabrication, assembly and test environments.
