Engine Technician III

Job Summary:

The Engine Technician plays an important role in the development and certification efforts of DeltaHawk Engines.  Under the supervision of the Test Manager, the Engine Technician will have a diverse role providing support for:  assembling, modification, and teardown of test engines and engine sub-assemblies as well as test setup, execution, and documentation of results and observations.  In addition, the Engine Technician will provide support in one or more areas including: electrical, electronic and avionic setup and troubleshooting as well as test instrumentation setup and troubleshooting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Modification of components as required to meet engineering specified test requirements
  • Providing primary input to engine and assembly build documentation
  • Setup engines and assemblies for testing following established protocols and test requirements
  • Executing test requests with in established protocol and engineering specifications
  • Complete engine tear down and carefully documenting observations and requested data
  • Equipment and basic test infrastructure maintenance


  • Ability to follow procedures consistent with general mechanical shop and test cells
  • Excellent attention to detail in mechanical assembly and the inspection process during teardowns
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting electrical test instrumentation and avionics systems
  • Passionate about learning and a strong “can do” attitude
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate technical details effectively in verbal and written form
  • Computer literacy including the ability to organize and manage test data
  • Ability to lift, hold, and position weights up to 45 lbs intermittently (two to four times per hour over a work shift)
  • Ability to intermittently (2 to 4 times per hour over a work shift) work in various positions necessary to service the engine, test configurations or related assignments
  • Ability to effectively integrate and work as a team member


  • A&P Mechanic or direct experience in the racing industry
  • 5+ years of relevant powerplant/engine building and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot electrical issues, and fabricate electrical wiring and/or harnesses
  • Effective communicator and can work well in a team environment
  • Technical comprehension and communication skills


  • Ability to create step by step assembly work instructions and maintain logbooks
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift occasionally (to support testing schedule) with proper notice
  • Proficiency with mill, lathe, or welding & fabrication experience

Working Conditions:

Work will be conducted in a mechanical shop and engine test cell environment with standard precautions required consistent with an engine assembly and engine test cell environment.
